Putnam County Press Releases

G.E.R.T.I.E. is here!

Putnam County Emergency Medical Services, along with Gilboa Quarry and Dive Center and Vertical Reality will host a two-day seminar on Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Gilboa Quarry located on 3763 Old US 224, Gilboa, OH.  A variety of activities has been scheduled for the weekend.  Friday evening begins with training sessions starting at 6:00 PM and immediately following the lectures we will party under the "big tent".  A military style party will be held, so wear your best camo outfit and dance to the music of local DJ's, Craig Greve and Mike Rupert.

Saturday morning will start with a lecture from Dr. Ellis, Lima Memorial Hospital's Wound Clinic specialist.  The day will offer simulated medical emergencies, rope rappelling, water rescue response, wall climbing, grain bin/confined space rescue, and many other activities.  Continuing education hours will be awarded for those who request it.

Camping is available at the dive center, with additional camping off-site, if needed.  Food is also available on the grounds.  If you are not doing anything the weekend of June 8th and 9th, come on out for a great time and a learning experience.  A downloadable version of our registration form is available on this website.  Just go to the GERTIE link. We hope to see you at the quarry!
